Hi, I'm "newish" to your blog. Number 8 (I think. I don't want to navigate away from this.) in the picture is a carpet sweeper. My mom still has two of them. They are super for a quick clean up. The new ones just don't work as well as the old ones.
I believe you are right. It's listed as a mechanical carpet sweeper... sounds like it would sure beat the non-mechanical sweepers... like a broom

no. 9 looks not unlike my 1950's Kirby vacuum that I use most days. It is a wonder machine and never dies!
Oh, and I have no. 8 too. It is wooden and really works. Mine is from 1908 I think.
