Hmmm, I wonder what a salmon trout is. We have a steelhead trout that travels to the ocean and then returns to its spawning grounds (like a salmon). The meat is my favorite; it isn't as rich as salmon. (Steelhead can grow to about a meter in length.) We fish for them, but only hatchery raised can be kept. Wild ones have to be thrown back.
