I like that they used the word 'obviate' (to render unnecessary) in the advert for the range. Today, words must be not above a 5th grade level, I think. Of course 5th grade level today and in the 1860's is certainly open for debate as well. (sorry grade 5 here in the us, not sure what it would be in australia)

I liked that too... I imagine Grade 5 would be similar...although I don't think you have Prep over there so it may be the equivalent of Grade 4.
